Being an animal enthusiast, I've always felt I had the soul of a cat and the spirit of a bird. Quite ironic being that cats love to eat birds. I relish in my comfort and find it difficult to adhere to changes, but I'm always freely wandering. I prefer my feet to be planted on the ground, yet, I'm most alive when I feel as if I'm soaring in the journeys I embark on. My life is filled with wonderment and joy during these endeavors; living life as dual animal entities.
When I had the opportunity to book a creative photo session with the fantastic, dynamic photo-snapping duo, Kay and Ty of Pretty Geeky Photography, I was ecstatic. I wanted a shoot that was different and captured the essence of the individual within me. Since I'm already owned by a cat (and have a cat tattoo on my right ankle), what better way than to create a large life-sized bird nest complete with a crystal chandelier to create a story of my character. I chose a raven for its playful and mysterious nature, intelligence, and adaptability to survival; in hunting, scavenging and foraging for food together as a group or alone. The raven has also become a staple in mythology, folklore, art and literature. It's undeniable the raven has been overlooked and like cats, been given a label not deserving of its true magnificent character.
My make-up artist, Lala, and Pretty Geeky did an amazing and flawless job. They were able to transform and bring forth even a character I didn't know existed within me. The photos turned out more beautiful and magical than I could've ever imagined.
